Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Giakalis Tutoring website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are a parent or guardian arranging services on behalf of a minor, you accept these terms on their behalf. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
2. Description of Services
Giakalis Tutoring, operated by Alexandros Giakalis in Athens, Greece, provides private tutoring in:
- Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
- Curricula: IB (AA/AI, SL/HL), A-Levels, AP, IGCSE, GCSE, MYP, Digital SAT, Greek national curriculum (Πανελλήνιες), and university-level courses
- Formats: Live online sessions (via video call with shared whiteboard) and in-person sessions in Athens, Greece
The specific scope of each engagement is agreed upon between the tutor and the student or parent/guardian.
3. Eligibility and Minors
Our services are available to students of all ages. For students under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent, oversee the booking process, and serve as the primary point of contact. By booking lessons for a minor, the parent or guardian confirms they have the authority to do so.
4. Booking and Free Trial Lessons
We offer a free trial lesson to prospective students. The trial is provided with no obligation and no payment required. It allows students and parents to experience our teaching approach before committing.
Lessons can be booked through our website booking form, WhatsApp, email, or phone. All bookings are confirmed directly between the tutor and the student or parent. A booking is considered confirmed once both parties agree on a date and time.
5. Session Format and Student Responsibilities
Students are expected to:
- Attend sessions on time and be prepared with relevant materials (textbooks, notes, assignments)
- Have a stable internet connection and working camera/microphone for online sessions
- Communicate openly about areas of difficulty and academic goals
- Complete any recommended practice or homework between sessions
Active participation and consistent effort outside of lessons are essential for academic progress.
6. Fees and Payment
- Lesson rates are communicated to each student or parent before any paid session begins. You will never be charged without knowing the price in advance.
- Payment is due [BEFORE EACH SESSION / WEEKLY / MONTHLY — as agreed]. The specific arrangement is confirmed between the tutor and the family.
- Accepted payment methods: [PAYMENT METHODS — e.g., bank transfer, cash, PayPal].
Rates may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be communicated before they take effect and will not apply to sessions already booked at the previous rate.
7. Cancellation and Rescheduling
- By the student: Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the session start time. Cancellations made with sufficient notice will not be charged.
- Late cancellations (less than 24 hours): May be charged at the full session rate, at the tutor's discretion.
- No-shows: If a student fails to appear without notice, the session will be considered delivered and charged accordingly.
- By the tutor: If the tutor needs to cancel or reschedule, the student will be notified as early as possible and the session will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time at no extra cost.
8. Refunds
If a session cannot be delivered due to a technical issue on the tutor's end, or if the tutor cancels without providing a make-up session, a full refund will be offered for that session. Refunds for pre-paid lesson packages are handled on a case-by-case basis. To request a refund, please contact us at giakalis.alexander1989@gmail.com.
9. Educational Disclaimer
While we are committed to helping every student improve, we do not guarantee specific grades, exam scores, or academic outcomes. Results depend on many factors including the student's effort, attendance, prior knowledge, and external circumstances. Our role is to provide expert guidance, clear explanations, and structured preparation.
10. Acceptable Use and Conduct
We expect all interactions to be conducted with mutual respect. The following are not tolerated:
- Abusive, threatening, or harassing language or behavior toward the tutor or any other party
- Repeated disruption of sessions
- Use of tutoring assistance for academic dishonesty (e.g., having the tutor complete graded assignments or exams on the student's behalf)
Violations may result in immediate termination of services.
11. Intellectual Property
All materials provided by Giakalis Tutoring — including lesson notes, worksheets, slides, practice problems, and downloadable resources from our website — are for the student's personal educational use only. You may not redistribute, publish, sell, or share these materials with third parties without prior written permission.

12. Recording Policy
Tutoring sessions may only be recorded with the explicit prior consent of all participants. If you wish to record a session for personal review, please ask before the session begins. The tutor reserves the right to decline. Any recordings made with consent are for personal use only and may not be shared or published.
13. Limitation of Liability
Giakalis Tutoring provides services in good faith and to the best of the tutor's professional ability. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services or website.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific sessions giving rise to the claim.
This limitation does not affect any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws.
14. Indemnity
You agree to hold Giakalis Tutoring harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of our services or your violation of these Terms. This does not limit any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
15. Termination

- Repeated non-payment
- Abusive or inappropriate conduct
- Violation of these Terms
Any sessions already paid for but not yet delivered at the time of termination will be refunded.
16. Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable for delays or failure to perform obligations due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, internet failures, pandemics, government actions, or civil unrest. In such cases, the affected party will make reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as possible, and affected sessions will be rescheduled at no additional cost.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hellenic Republic (Greece). Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Athens, Greece. This does not affect any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active students or their parents. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
